A. Mazzacchera, ed., Corrado Cagli: from Rome to New York, exhibition catalogue, London 2018, p. 68, no. 39 (illustrated).
The work was part of the Alitalia Collection, which started from Cagli’s idea when he suggested to the Italian airline Alitalia to build a collection of works of art. Just like when Cagli produced six tapestries for the Italian ocean liners ‘Leonardo’ and ‘Raffaello’ between 1959 and 1960, the aim of this initiative was to make Italian art travel the world. As for the work that would represent the artist “at high altitude”, Maestro Cagli chose this oil on canvassed paper depicting 'Warriors' from 1959, masterfully crafted in a rare colour tone.
